Many Roads in Washington County Closed Due To Flooding

Many swift water rescues took place Tuesday night

Hagerstown, Md. (DG) – Severe weather caused many road closures in southern Washington County on Tuesday evening.

At 8:45 PM, police and fire and rescue began responding to numerous emergencies due to flash flooding south of Sharpsburg.

Emergency crews performed multiple swift water rescue operations and rescued 7 adults, 2 horses, and one dog. Six people were taken to temporary shelters.

Many roadways in Washington County are still affected and are impassable due to high water, debris, or downed trees and power lines.
