They make up the Fire Fighter Recruit Classes 18 and 19.
Congratulations go out to the 18th and 19th Frederick County Fire Fighter Recruit Classes. Members will be graduating on Friday at ceremonies at 7:00 PM at the Jack B. Kussmaul Theater at Frederick Community College.
The 12 members of the 18th class are paramedics who underwent an eight-week fire fighter training course. The students had to complete all hazard training which included fire suppression, rescue, hazardous materials and emergency medical services. Fire officials say the programs involved classroom and live fire instruction. Some unique events include flashover simulation training.
The 19th Fire and Rescue Recruit Class, which consisted of 28 FIrefighter/Emergency Medical Technicians, underwent a 20-week academy which also included hazardous training in fire suppression, rescue, hazardous materials and emergency medical services. There was also physical training program throughout the 20-weeks. The students also took part in flashover simulator training, enhanced emergency vehicle driving, including skid pan exercises, and a five-mile motivational run around downtown Frederick.
