FREDERICK, Md. (AP) – Officials say a man robbed a Frederick Wal-Mart using a BB gun stolen during a previous theft.
According to charging documents obtained by the Frederick News-Post, the robbery occurred April 4. Employees told deputies a white man displayed what appeared to be a handgun in his waistband to a cashier and left with about $1,700 in cash.
No one was hurt.
While searching the area, deputies found a backpack, a discarded BB gun and a trespassing notification that had been served to 25-year-old Nicholas Wayne Keyian.
A Wal-Mart security guard remembered Keyian from a series of thefts from the store. On April 3, the BB gun recovered by deputies was reported stolen.
Officials arrested Keyian Friday on charges of robbery and theft. It wasn’t immediately clear if he has an attorney.
