Mt. Airy Post 191 American Legion Baseball preview this Sunday on Frederick County Sports Weekend on WFMD Radio and WFMD.COM!!!!!

Another season of American Legion baseball will be getting underway in June when the high school season has ended. This Sunday we welcome to WFMD the coach of the Mt. Airy Post 191 team, Tripp Staley, asst coach Mike Athey and the coach of the 17 and under team, Ryan Staley. The roster of the Mt. Airy team is filled with high school baseball players from Frederick County like Tony and Dom Bianchini, Travis Dover, Sean Carey, Jonathan Parilla, Colby Johnson and Brad Foster of Oakdale, Connor Hennegis, Nick Dellavalle and Kyle Beckwith of Linganore and Ryan Washabaugh and Jack Stines of Urbana. The season is busy and compressed. On the schedule this season is a trip to Ohio and West Virginia in early June to play teams from that region like Steubenville and Wheeling and then at least 18 games between June 17 and July 23. And then the post season tournament schedule. You have to love baseball! And these guys do. They have a game practically every day for more than a month! Some of the teams involved locally in addition to Mt. Airy include Frederick, Funkstown, Woodsboro, Sandy Spring and Sykesville. Most of the games are on weekends or start at 5:30 pm which makes it a “fan friendly” league. The coaches talk about tryouts, the support of the local American Legion posts, and the iconic fields these guys play on. You have to love baseball! And we are talking baseball this Sunday (4/17) on Frederick County Sports Weekend at 12:05 pm on 930 WFMD Radio and the streaming audio of wfmd.com
