THURMONT, Md. (AP) – National Park Service officials say Catoctin Mountain Park is getting a new superintendent.
Officials announced in a news release Wednesday that Rick Slade, a 14-year veteran of the park service who lives in Frederick, will begin work at the park in early May.
Slade comes to the position from Monocacy National Battlefield, where he has served as superintendent since 2013. Officials say Slade worked to increase awareness of the park and to expand educational and recreational opportunities.
