Police Officer Dragged During Arrest Wed. Night

The suspect was taken into custody.

A Brunswick man was arrested Wednesday night in Frederick after his vehicle dragged a police officer. David Franklin Anders, Sr., 52, is charged with 1st and 2nd-degree assault, reckless endangerment, failure to obey a lawful order, possession of a controlled dangerous substance (PCP), possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while impaired by drugs or alcohol.
Frederick Police Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of South Jefferson Street at 10:12 PM to investigate a drug complaint. They contacted Anders who was in his vehicle and they determined that he was impaired. He was ordered to remove the keys from the ignition and step out of the vehicle. But he pulled away, dragging an officer a short distance. Other officers were able to stop the vehicle at the intersection of South Jefferson Street and Scholls Lane.

Authorities searched Anders’ vehicle, and found a cigarette dipped in PCP.

Police say Anders was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center where he’s being held on $50,000 bond.
