Single Vehicle Crash In Frederick County Kills NY Man

State Police say he was ejected from his vehicle.

A New York state man was killed in a one-vehicle crash in Frederick County early Wednesday morning.

Maryland State Police say just before 5:00 AM, Michael Scott Edbauer, 44, of Clarence Center was driving a Honda Pilot northbound on Route 15 near Angleberger Road near Lewistown when he fell asleep at the wheel. He lost control of the vehicle after it entered the median. The Pilot overturned and came to rest on its roof.

Troopers say Edbauer was not secured with a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another adult, identified as Theresa Fisher, 42, of Clarence Center, New York, and three children were restrained by seatbelts. They were taken to Meritus Medical Center with minor injuries.

State Police say the children’s names are not being released because they are minors.

The investigation into this crash is continuing.
