Highway Worker Struck On I-70 Early Thurs. Morning

He was fixing guardrails at the time.

A highway worker helping to install guardrails on eastbound Interstate 70 near Route 40 in Washington County was struck by vehicle early Thursday morning. State Police say Jamey Kamp, 39, of Confluence, Pennsylvania was hit by a Chevrolet  Colorado pickup.

He was taken to Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown and later flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma.

The Chevy was operated by James P. Hill III of Boliver, Ohio. State Police say Hill tried to change lanes and pulled into the path of a Ford F-350 operated by Brian Steven Debusk of Elkton, Maryland. The impact forced the Colorado into the median, where it overturned several times, striking Kamp.

Kamp works for Green Acres Contracting in Scottdale, Pennsylvania.
