Three troopers stopped 95 vehicles for cell phone violations.
The Maryland State Police in Frederick conducted a distracted driver initiative on Monday. Three troopers were stationed at Route 85 near Interstate 70, and stopped 95 vehicles for cell phone violations.
State law allows drivers to use their hand held cell phones while driving only to accept or decline incoming calls. Any other use of a cell phones while behind the wheel needs to be done hands free.
State Police say distracted driving due to cell phone use accounts for more than 350,000 vehicle crashes each year.
