Part of Lewistown Road To Be Closed For Up To A Year

Rehabilitation work is expected to take place on the bridge over Fishing Creek.

Lewistown Road will be closed at the bridge that goes over Fishing Creek starting on Monday, May 2nd..

The Frederick County Office of Transportation Engineering says the closure will allow the contractor, Kinsley Construction, Inc., to do rehabilitation work on the span. That work will include demolition of the existing deck, and repair and reconstruction of the existing abutments and wing walls.

The roadway will be slightly widened when the new bridge is put in place.

Officials say the work is expected to take nine months to one year.

A detour will be set up. Motorists can use Hessong Bridge Road, Creagerstown Road (Rt. 550), and Old Frederick Road.

The school system and emergency officials have been notified.
