Taneytown Man Arrested For Arson

Officials say he set fire to his own vehicle.

A Taneytown man is accused of setting his own vehicle on fire. The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says Israel Freeman, 23, is charged with 2nd-degree arson and malicious burning.

On March 10th, fire fighters responded to 5 Broad Street in Taneytown for a vehicle fire, and put out the flames within ten minutes of their arrival.

Investigators say they learned that Freeman set his 2002 Saturn Ion on fire.

He’s currently being held at the Carroll County Detention Center on $30,000 bond.
