It’s Frederick Keys day on Frederick County Sports Weekend! New Keys Manager Keith Bodie and Second Baseman Anthony Caronia are the guests this Sunday on WFMD Radio and WFMD.COM!!!!
Keith Bodie, a Brooklyn, NY native, has been in professional baseball for over 40 years and he laughs when asked how many future Major League stars he has coached or played with. Anthony Caronia , out of Orlando, Florida, is just starting out with his career and realizes he already is at a level that most baseball players in America only dream about. Listen this Sunday and you will find they both have some interesting things to say about baseball. Caronia points out that he has never been the “best player” on any team he has been on, even going way back to Little League. But he was drafted by a major league baseball team while “bigger stars” were not. In the middle of this week, Caronia was leading the Keys in batting with a .375 average. Bodie bounced around the minor leagues for ten years and never made the “show” but he has helped produce some great major league players, having coached Hall of Famer Craig Biggio and current Washington Nationals star Ryan Zimmerman among many others. And he has managed minor league teams to a total of nine division championships. Recently he managed the Corpus Christi team to the top record in the Texas League for two consecutive seasons. Caronia loves playing and lives with a host family in Frederick, just a five minute walk from Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium. And Bodie loves the “small town” feel of Frederick in his first few weeks in the city. A good look at professional baseball in Frederick this Sunday (5/1) on Frederick County Sports Weekend at 12:05 pm on 930 WFMD Radio and the streaming audio of wfmd.com
