Two Frederick Men Charged With Marijuana Possession With Intent To Distribute

Police say they confiscate 29 grams of pot.


Frederick Police have charged two local men with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Jose Alexander Duran Garcia,21, and Jose Carmelo Mejia-Lopez, 34, both of Frederick, were taken into custody Friday at a home in the 100 block of Tillman Drive.

Officers were dispatched there to try to locate a wanted person. The owner gave police permission to enter the home, where they found two individuals actively packing marijuana into smaller baggies. Authorities say they found a total of 19 baggies and a digital scale.

Garcia and Mejia-Lopez were taken into custody. Both are charged with one count each of possession of marijuana (over 10 grams); possession of marijuana with intent to distribute; and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone; and two counts of possession of paraphernalia.

Officers say they confiscated a total of 29 grams of marijuana.
