One of the deceased was a Hagerstown woman.
McHENRY, Md. (AP) – Maryland State Police say two people were killed and a third person was injured when two cars collided head-on in Garrett County.
Troopers said in a news release that on Monday afternoon, 63-year-old Joyce Streifel of Hagerstown was driving south on US Route 219 in McHenry.
Police say Streifel’s car cross the double yellow line and crashed head-on into a car traveling north.
Authorities say Streifel was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the driver of the other car, 71-year-old Dorothy George of Grantsville, and her passenger, 49-year-old Gary Broadwater, also of Grantsville, were taken to a hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia.
Troopers say Broadwater died at the hospital. George’s condition was not known.
The crash is under investigation.
