FREDERICK, Md. (KR) Drivers will soon get a smoother ride on Interstate 70 eastbound in Frederick between Old National Pike and Ridge Road.
The State Highway Administration announced the have already begun resurfacing the stretch of roadway to increase the life and safety of the highway.
Charlie Gischlar, with the SHA says there will be some considerable closures to be aware of
“We are going to do this work at night, between 8:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. but there’s going to be single and double lane closures weeknights between 8:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.,” said Gischlar.
It is a better solution to completely resurface and restrip the pavement instead of a quicker fix, he explained.
“It just becomes too expensive just to maintain it just to patch it together. It’s best just to get a nice new surface down and especially here because it’s such a major truck through up there, between I-68 and I-695, thats about 70,000 people a day,” said Gischlar.
