One Injured In Two-Vehicle Crash In Washington Co. On Sunday

State Police say charges are pending.

Charges are pending in connection with a two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in Washington County.

State Police say troopers responded to eastbound Interstate 70 east of Crystal Falls Drive just before 1:00 PM, and found a Honda CRV along the right shoulder of the roadway wedged under the rear of a tractor trailer. The operator of the Honda identified as Anne W. Hegnauer, 74, of Washington D-C was trapped in the vehicle. Emergency workers from Washington and Frederick Counties responded to the scene, and successfully extricated Hegnauer from her car.

She was medivaced to Shock Trauma for treatment of her injuries. The operator of the tractor trailer, Richard Allen Shaffer, 61, was not hurt.

Troopers say a preliminary investigation revealed that Hegnauer was traveling eastbound on I-70 when her vehicle rear-ended the tractor trailer.

State Police say I-70 was closed intermittently for two hours while troopers conducted their investigation.
