Suspects In Washington Co. Murder Arrested In Arizona

HANCOCK, Md. (AP) – Authorities say two suspects being sought in connection with the killing of an 81-year-old Maryland woman have been arrested in Arizona.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Sunday that Crystal Dawn Stanley and Jerry Wayne Smith Jr. have been arrested in Kingman, Arizona. The sheriff’s office says an Arizona state trooper ran a registration check of the vehicle the two were traveling in and learned that the vehicle was wanted in connection with a homicide.

Both face several charges related to last week’s killing of Margaret Rose McAllister, who was found dead inside her Hancock home. Deputies said an autopsy determined that homicide was the cause of death.

Stanley has been identified by investigators as McAllister’s great-niece.
