He will be replaced by Paul Dial.
Chief Administrative Officer Doug Browning is leaving Frederick County Government. County Executive Jan Gardner made that announcement Thursday morning during her public information briefing at Winchester Hall. “He’s been my right hand-man, entrusted with challenging projects and the supervision of our county directors,” Gardner said, in a statement. “We wish him the very best as he departs his position in order to focus more fully on personal and family needs. He will still be available on a part-time basis to work on special projects.”
Browning’s departure from county government become effective on June 10th, 206.
Browning took on the job of Chief Administrative Officer in January, 2015, as Frederick County was starting off with charter government.
He had served as President of Frederick Community College from January, 2013–August, 2014. He was named interim President in 2011. Browning first came to FCC as vice president of administration in 2007.
Before working at FCC, Browning was Frederick County Manager from 2002-2007. In addition, he was acting county manager before that time, and served as Comptroller/Finance Division director beginning in 1996.
Paul Dial, the Director of Parks and Recreation, will serve as acting County Administrative Officer.
