Frederick County Resident Survived Pulse Night Club Massacre

He says his best friend is missing.

One of those who was inside the Pulse night club in Orlando, Florida during this pass weekend’s deadly shooting is from Frederick County. Andy Moss of Urbana spoke with CNN about his experiences inside the club with his friend Chris Sommers. Both were standing by the door. “We both heard the shots. We both looked at each other and said ‘what the hell is going on.’ Once people started screaming my first instinct was the run and just to get out,”  he told a CNN reporter on the scene, speaking through tears.

During the chaos, Moss says he lost track of his friend. “He was a good guy. He was one of my very good friends. I don’t know where he is. I don’t know what his status is. He’s not answering his phone. I can’t go to the hospital. I can’t. So I’m just trying to figure out if he’s okay,” says Sommers.

And if he had a message for Chris, Moss said it would be  “you’re my best friend, and nothing’s  going to stop that. There’s no bullet that can ever break a friendship that you have with somebody. And he will forever be my best friend,” Moss told the CNN reporter.

Inside the club over the weekend, Omar Mateen shot and killed 49 people. He was fatally shot by police who stormed the business.

The list of those who died in the shooting was released on Monday by Orlando Police. Chris Sommers’ name was not on that list.
