Baltimore Jail Inmate Charged In Theft Scheme

He allegedly stole the identity of a correctional officer’s wife.

BALTIMORE (AP) – A Baltimore jail inmate is charged with stealing the identity of a correctional officer’s wife.

The federal indictment released Wednesday says 42-year-old Dontae Small unlawfully obtained the woman’s name and credit-card number in January, and that a female associate on the outside then used the information for purchases and bill-paying.

Both Small and 29-year-old Kimberly Duckfield of Hagerstown are charged with bank fraud conspiracy and identity theft.

Duckfield’s lawyer declined to comment.

Small has no attorney listed in online case records.

The indictment doesn’t say how the inmate at the Baltimore City Detention Center obtained the information. U.S. Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Vickie LeDuc says she can’t comment beyond what’s written in the indictment.
