House In Westminster Destroyed By Fire

Residents have been displaced.


The occupants of a house in Westminster were displaced early Thursday morning by a fire.

Just before 2:30 AM, 40 fire fighters were dispatched to 620 Barnes Avenue and spent one hour bringing the flames under control. There were no injuries.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says damage is estimated at $300,000 to both the structure and its contents. The cause remains under investigation, but officials say the fire originated in the exterior rear deck.

The Fire Marshal’s Office says the occupants were alerted by a smoke alarm and were able to get out safely.
