Man Found Dead In Front Of Frederick Parking Deck

Police say he fell.

The investigation continues into the death of a man whose body was found near the Court Street Parking Deck in downtown Frederick Wednesday afternoon.

Lt. Jason Keckler with Frederick Police says the Department was notified shortly after 4:30 PM that a man was lying on the ground near the entrance to the parking deck. Officers were dispatched to the scene. When they arrived, it was determined the man was deceased.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the man had fallen from the parking deck. Detectives are actively investigating the incident to determine the cause of the fall,” says Lt. Keckler.

The victim’s identity is not being released until next of kin are notified, police say.

The man’s body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore for an autopsy. “South Court Street between West Patrick Street and Citizens Way was closed for approximately an hour and a half while we conducted our investigation. The road was reopened at approximately 6:00 PM,” he says.

Lt. Keckler says it’s still to early to determine if the man’s death was accidental. “As part of our investigation, we’re still continuing to talk to any witnesses that were in the area so we can determine the exact cause of the gentleman’s fall,” he says.
