Non-profits are invited to apply.
Homeowners’ associations, civic and community groups, athletic associations and recreation councils are invited to apply for funding from the Frederick County Parks and Recreation Commission’s Community Grant Program for fiscal year 2017.
Grants are used to improve existing recreational facilities and construct new ones on land owned or used by the applicants. The grant funds cannot be used on property owned by federal, state or local governments.
The money can be used to pay for the cost of materials, equipment and contract labor. Construction labor can be provided by volunteers or paid contractors, or a combination of the two. The grants are not intended for the annual maintenance of existing facilities.
A Parks and Recreation Commission subcommittee will review and score the applications based on recreational and community value, project and planning, site plan/master plan and local contribution.
The deadline to submit an application is 4:30 PM on Friday, August 5th. Notification of which organizations will receive grant funding is expected by November.
A budget of $50,000 has been set aside for the Community Grant Program.
More information and applications are available from the Parks and Recreation Division at 301-600-1646, or on line at http://recreater.com/322/Community-Grant-Program.
