Three Charged With Assault, Robbery

Police say a handgun & pepper spray were used.


(Frederick, Md.) (KM)  Frederick Police have charged three suspects in connection with a robbery and assault last Wednesday. Jaelin Ricardo Maddox, 18, and Joseph Paul White, 19, are both charged with armed robbery, 1st-degree assault and theft under $1,000. In addition to those charges, Smith is also charged with 2nd-degree assault. Both men are Frederick Residents.

The third suspect is a female juvenile, police say.
Authorities responded to Trafalgar Lane and Laurel Wood Way on Wednesday where the victim told officers he was pepper sprayed and beaten. He said one of the suspects lured him to a vehicle, where the other two were waiting. One of the individuals pointed a handgun at the victim, and another used pepper spray on him.

The victim ran away from the car and was chased by the suspects.

Police say the weapon used in the assault was BB gun.

Maddox and Smith were arrested on Friday morning, July eighth. The juvenile suspect was apprehended in Emmitsburg a short time later. Police say they are not releasing her name.
