Frederick County Public Schools Are Preparing to Welcome Back Students

FREDERICK, Md. (KR) School supplies are hitting the shelves and Frederick County Public school officials are preparing to welcome students back to the classrooms.

Michael Doerrer, FCPS Communications Director says there will be about 41,000 students returning to the 65 schools across the county in just a few weeks.

“It is very exciting, our schools, we have been busy all summer getting ready for the first day. It’s what all of our principals, teachers, our administrators look forward to all summer long and we just can’t wait for Monday, August 22 to roll around,” said Doerrer.

Finding your child’s bus route is easy with a section on the fcps.org website that parents can check periodically through the start of school, he said.

“We do reach out to parents to let them know what the bus information is. So, if they haven’t gotten that or if they have questions about it, if anything changes, all they need to do is call their school and that’s easy to find out as well,” said Doerrer.

It is important that all parents remember to have up-to-date immunizations for their student before school starts, which are required by the state.

Students and parents can also find immunization information, school supply list, orientation dates, forms and other important back to school items online at fcps.org/back-to-school.
