Pipe Bomb Suspect Ordered Held Without Bail

FREDERICK, Md. (DG)-The 22-year-old man who used a pipe bomb to blow up the front of a police vehicle will remain behind bars.

On Monday a judge ordered Kyle Mueller of Thurmont to be held without bail.

Authorities say last Wednesday at 12:30 AM, Mueller detonated a pipe bomb on the hood of a marked 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe parked in front of Thurmont Officer Tim Duhan’s home on Clark Avenue.

Mueller was taken into custody on Friday and later admitted buying the materials and constructing the bomb.

He is charged with the manufacture and possession of a destructive device, reckless endangerment, and malicious destruction of property.
