This follows the flash flooding in Ellicott City last month.
ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (AP) – Howard County Executive Allan Kittleman says the U.S. Small Business Administration has approved the governor’s request for a disaster declaration for flood-ravaged Ellicott City.
Kittleman says in an email Wednesday that the SBA approved the declaration for Howard County. Gov. Larry Hogan had asked for the declaration on Tuesday.
The disaster declaration will enable businesses, homeowners and renters to apply for low-interest loans to repair damage from the July 30 storm. The loans could be used to repair or replace real estate, personal property, machinery and equipment and inventory and business assets.
The flooding killed two people and devastated the historic district of Ellicott City.
