A new school year is just around the corner but Comptroller Peter Franchot would want it to start later…like the day after Labor Day.
“Ultimately we are going to succeed on this. Why? It’s a great idea it helps the State’s economy because it extends the tourism” said Franchot.
The biggest resistance comes from Public School Districts in the state.
“This is a wonderful idea, it doesn’t cost the tax payers a dime. It helps the economy. It makes teachers happy. It makes parents with school age kids happy. Everyone is happy, everyone wants it and ultimately I think it will be the policy of the state” said Franchot.
Last year Governor Hogan says he supports schools starting after labor day. For more information go to WFMD.com and follow us on Facebok and Twitter at 930 WFMD.
