Two Killed, One Hurt In Vehicle Crash

A car landed on its side.

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) – The Washington County Sheriff’s Office says two people were killed and a third person was hurt when their car hit a median and fell on its side in Hagerstown.

The department said in a news release that the crash occurred Friday morning on Maugans Avenue just off Interstate 81. Deputies say the car, driven by 74-year-old Doris Neely of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, hit the median, flipped onto the passenger side, and stopped in a grassy area.

Police say Neely, who may have suffered a medical emergency, died at a local hospital. Authorities say the front-seat passenger in Neely’s car, 82-year-old James Ransome of York, Pennsylvania, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies say a back-seat passenger was taken to a hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
