AAA Mid-Atlantic Says Gas Prices Have Increased This Week in Maryland

FREDERICK, Md. (KR) Gas prices in Maryland have seen an increase of six cents over the past week and are up four cents nationally.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says drivers shouldn’t expect to see that trend continue as we head into the Labor Day holiday and fall months.

Ragina Cooper Avarella, with AAA Mid-Atlantic, says in Maryland prices for this week are $2.14.

“Not a huge amount compared to what we were paying this time last year, but none-the-less an increase regardless,” said Cooper Avarella.

She said the increase in pump prices have been driven by crude oil prices surging more than 20% this month.

“Again, gas prices are still considerably lower than they were this time last year. Nationally, I believe we’re about forty to forty-six cents less than this time last year and the same holds true in Maryland,” said Cooper Avarella.

She said prices are the lowest that AAA Mid-Atlantic has seen in a decade for the upcoming holiday weekend.
