Annapolis, Md. (KM) A former Frederick County local elected official had his day in court on Tuesday. Blaine Young of Union Bridge was found guilty of three misdemeanor prostitution-related charges. One prostitution offense against him was dismissed.
The judge gave him probation before judgment. Young was fined $200 and placed on one-year of unsupervised probation.
Young was arrested in February for prostitution during a police sting at a hotel near BWI Airport. Authorities say he answered an on line ad promising him a good time. He paid an undercover officer $60 for an expected sex act.
A spokeswoman with the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office says Young testified at his trial on Tuesday that he believed he was going in for a massage.
In a Facebook posting, Young said he waived his right to appeal, and agreed with the judge’s decision. “I am only to blame and no one else,” he said in his post. “I am taking it day by day and will work hard to make right with those I hurt. I am sorry for those I let down with my poor decision and inappropriate behavior.”
Young is a former County Commissioner and a one-time member of the Frederick Board of Aldermen.
