Light the Night Walk Benefiting Blood Cancer Research is Gearing Up for Event in October

FREDERICK, Md. (KR) A fundraising campaign benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is inviting anyone who would like to participate in a walk for a cure. The event takes place on Saturday, October 22nd at 5:30 PM at Baker Park in Downtown Frederick.

Taylor Salley, Campaign Assistant with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society says this event will help to raise money to find cures for blood cancers.

“There’s going to be a kids zone, a pet station then there is going to be a remembrance ceremony to remember loved ones lost. It’s really just a celebration of survivor-ship as well,” said Salley,

Each walker is given a colored lantern that signifies the reason they are participating in the walk.

“There is red for people who are participants and just coming to support, white lanterns are in remembrance of those lost, and the yellow lanterns signify someone going through treatment at the moment,” said Salley.

New this year, businesses will be allowed to set up a table at the event to promote their business and support the cause for a $100 donation, according to Salley.
