It was a botched murder-suicide, according to authorities.
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) – A Mount Airy man faces a possible life sentence after pleading guilty to first-degree murder in a botched murder-suicide attempt.
The Frederick News-Post reports that 51-year-old Robert Laudick appeared in court Tuesday in Frederick. He also pleaded guilty to third-degree sex offense and possession of child pornography in two related cases. Sentencing is set for December.
Laudick acknowledged he fatally shot his wife Donna before shooting himself in the chest in their home last October.
Laudick had been indicted five days earlier on child sex abuse charges. Prosecutors say his wife did not believe those accusations and helped bail her husband out of jail the day before the shooting.
During the slaying investigation, deputies seized a computer from the home that was found to contain child pornography.
