Their cases will move quickly to the Circuit Court for trial

Frederick, Md. (KM) Eight people were indicted Friday by the Frederick County Grand Jury. One of them was Llosvani Alejadro Galvez, 31, of Temple Hills in Prince George’s County. State’s Attorney Charlie Smith says Galvez faces some serious charges. “That is 2nd-degree rape, 3rd-degree sex offense and false imprisonment. So very substantial charges against Mr. Galvez,” he says.
Galvez was arrested in August for raping a Frederick woman.
Another indictment was filed against two, 19-year-old Thurmont men. “Francis Geppi of Thurmont, as well as Joshua Ray Bare, also of Thurmont. They were co-defendants that were indicted on 2nd-degree and 4th-degree burglary charges as well as some theft and malicious destruction of property was well,” says Smith.
Geppi and Bare were arrested last month for breaking into MD Vapor on North Church Street, and stealing merchandise. The store sells electronic cigarettes. Two other teenage boys, ages 16 and 17, were also arrested for that break-in.
Other indictments include:
* Noe Daniel Gaten-Ramirez, 33, of Frederick, Md. He’s charged with 1st-degree assault; two counts of 2nd-degree assault; reckless endangerment and the commission of a crime of violence in the presence of a minor; for an incident which occurred on August 8th, 2016.
* Chauncey Varnesse Coates, 38, of Hagerstown, Md. He’s charged with two counts of conspiracy to distribute heroin; two counts of conspiracy to possess heroin with intent to distribute; two counts of distribution of heroin; two counts possession with intent to distribute heroin; and possession of heroin for incidents which occurred between May 23rd and 28th, 2016, and August 17th and August 31st, 2016.
* Darius Antoin Jackson, 29, of Gaithersburg, Md. He’s charged 1st-degree assault; 2nd-degree assault; and violation of a protective order for an incident which occurred on August 27th, 2016.
* Sean Allen Manchus, 23, of Union Bridge, Md. He’s charged with 2nd-degree burglary; and theft between $1,000 and $10,000 for an incident which occurred on May 19th, 2016
* Tayquan Cornell Palmer, 21, of Frederick, Md. He’s charged with 1st-degree assault; 2nd-degree assault; reckless endangerment; and disorderly conduct for an incident which occurred on August 25th, 2016.
Smith says putting cases through the Grand Jury process has some advantages. “By having it determined by the Grand Jury, it’s definitely a more efficient process. You have 23 eyes, so to speak, on that case. It forwards it to our Circuit Court much more quickly. And we find that we’re able to get these cases through the system much more expeditiously,” he says.
He says the cases are now forwarded to the Circuit Court where a trial date will be set within 180 days.
