Doped Candies Found At Fair

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) — Frederick County sheriff’s deputies say they’re awaiting tests on suspected marijuana-based candies seized from a booth at the county fair.

Sgt. Jason Deater said that deputies raided the commercial booth Tuesday in Frederick after getting complaints that the items were being illegally sold there.
He says some of the candies field-tested positive for THC, the active ingredient in marijuana. Deater says officers seized about 50 packages of lollipops, chocolate-covered pretzels and gummies for more thorough testing by Maryland State Police.

He says that if those tests are positive, the vendors could be charged with drug crimes.

Such candies can be sold legally at dispensaries in Colorado, Oregon and Washington state. Maryland is in the process of implementing medical marijuana regulations.
