Woman Arrested For DUI With Child In Car

Woman arrested for driving drunk with a young child in her vehicle

FREDERICK, Md. (DG)- A Frederick woman was arrested Monday afternoon for driving under the influence with a small child inside of her SUV.

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office sent deputies to the 1600 block of Ballenger Creek Pike at 5 PM for a welfare check. Police received information that nobody was at the residence to take custody of a 5-year-old child when the school bus was dropping him off, and that officials were unable to reach anyone on the child’s emergency contact list.

When deputies arrived at the residence, they saw 26-year-old Lauren Moats pull into the driveway in a Ford Explorer, with a small child in the backseat.

After speaking with Moats, deputies determined that she was under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. When police informed Moats that she was under arrest, she began to actively fight and attempted to spit on them.

Moats was arrested and transported to Frederick Memorial Hospital for evaluation, and then to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.

She is charged with resisting arrest, obstructing and hindering, second degree assault, DUI, and driving a vehicle while impaired by alcohol while transporting a minor.
