Traffic Pattern Changes On I-70/I-68 In Washington County To Take Place Thurs. Night

Motorists will be detoured.

Hancock, Md (KM)  The State Highway Administration will shift eastbound traffic on Interstate 70 at I-68 near Hancock Thursday evening. It’s part of an ongoing bridge rehabilitation project.

SHA says crews will create two, 11-foot wide travel lanes on the right side of the bridge, with the work area separated by concrete barriers. Officials say this traffic switch is expected to place from 7:00 PM, October 13th,  until 5:00 AM, October 14th, weather permitting.

Motorists heading east on I-68 will be detoured to Route 144 (Main Street) through Hancock. Drivers traveling east on I-70 will encounter either the left or right lane closed. Maryland State Police will be on hand for traffic control.

After the switch is made, S-H-A says that traffic pattern will remain in place until the project is completed. That’s scheduled for next summer.
