Grand Jury Indicts Two For Human Trafficking

The panel handed down a total of 16 indictments on Friday.
Frederick, Md. (KM) Friday was a busy day for the Frederick County Grand Jury. The panel handed down 16 indictments in a number of cases, including human trafficking. Marvin Bernard Armstrong, 46, of High Point, North Carolina, and Thomas Duane Jones, 38, of Houston, Texas, were each charged with 1st-degree rape, 1st-degree sex offense, two counts of human trafficking, one count of 2nd-degree assault,  human trafficking and false imprisonment. Police say the two men were trafficking a young girl who was reported missing from Texas, and were having sex with that victim at the Super 8 on Monocacy Boulevard. The offense date was September 28th, 2016.

State’s Attorney Charlie Smith says human trafficking does happen in Frederick County; it isn’t limited to big cities and foreign countries. “Something that unfortunately we’re seeing more of here in Frederick,” he says. “We had not really had much of a human trafficking issue here. We saw it a lot in Montgomery County. But we’re starting to get these types of cases, and that’s obviously very unsettling to us here in Frederick County.”

The Grand Jury also indicted Anthony Eugene Reid, Jr., 27, of Walkersville, and Thomas Edward Reid, 23, of Frederick, for robbery, 1st-degree assault and theft less than $100 for an offense which occurred on September 14th, 2016 in the 700 block of Wembley Drive in Frederick. “These were two men who apparently attacked  man and left him bleeding profusely with facial injuries with bruises and cuts as well as a broken nose,” says Smith. “Apparently, they had accused him of being a snitch.”

Also indicted was Anthony David Bohn, 33, of New Windsor, Md. He’s charged with 1st-degree assault, five counts of 2nd-degree assault, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and interfering with an arrest. Bohn was arrested on September 28th for stabbing a friend inside of residential trailer. “They were apparently sitting inside the trailer one evening, and Mr. Bohn decided he was going to stab his friend with a box cutter-type knife,” says Smith.

After the stabbing, Bohn locked himself into the trailer. Sheriff’s deputies made attempts to persuade him to come out, and ended up storming the residence. They tried to subdue Mr. Bohn who resisted, according to authorities. “Unfortunately for Mr. Bohn–in the old days, they’d call it a wooden shampoo–the police had to subdue him by releasing a canine on him as well as striking him multiple times, sending him to Frederick Memorial Hospital. But he was extremely violent at the time. They were left with no other choice bu to subdue him in that manner,” says Smith.
