Council Confirms Dial As Chief Administrative Officer

He’s held that position in an acting capacity since June.


Frederick, Md (KM)  In a unanimous vote Tuesday afternoon, the Frederick County Council approved the appointment of Paul Dial as the county’s Chief Administrative Officer. He’s been serving in that position on an acting basis since June 10th.

Prior to that, Dial was Director of county Parks and Recreation. In that position, he managed 80 year-round and approximately 250 seasonal employees at park locations, as well as security and custodial staff.

As Chief Administrative Officer, Dial oversees 17 divisions under the direction of the County Executive.

He succeeds Doug Browning who served as Chief Administrative Officer from January 5, 2015 to June 10, 2016.

“I am pleased to make Paul’s appointment permanent,” says County Executive Jan Gardner, in a statement. “He has done an outstanding job managing the county’s divisions, problem solving issues and communicating across the divisions and agencies. Paul Brings extensive historical knowledge and experience in county government. He is an exceptionally strong leader as well as an outstanding communicator and experienced fiscal manager.”
