Crash happened while high school student was driving to school
CHARLES TOWN, WV (DG)-The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in West Virginia are investigating a fatal accident that happened early this morning. (Wednesday)
Rescue crews were sent to a two vehicle accident at 7:35 AM at the intersection of Flowing Springs Road and Job Corps Road.
Police say Raymond Whalen, of Harpers Ferry, was driving his truck and turning left from Job Corps Road onto Flowing Springs Road when he was struck by a pick-up truck traveling on Flowing Springs Road.
Whalen was ejected from his vehicle and taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. A utility pole was also struck during the accident
The driver of the other vehicle, a 17-year-old high school student, had minor injuries.
Police say the accident is still under investigation.
