Man Charged With Burning Down His Father’s House

Investigators say the suspect & his wife were living at the home and were separating.

WILLIAMSPORT, Md. (AP) – Authorities say a man has been charged with setting a fire that destroyed his father’s house in Williamsport.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office said in a news release that 56-year-old David Edward Carr was arrested Thursday. He is charged with arson and other offenses.

Officials say the fire was reported on Oct. 18. Firefighters arrived to find the vacant house fully engulfed in flames. It took 90 minutes to bring the fire under control.

Investigators say the homeowner, Robert Carr, allowed his son and his son’s wife to stay at the home. Authorities say David Carr and his wife separated, and that he set the fire after removing his belongings.

Online court records don’t list a lawyer for David Carr.
