Driver running a red light caused the three car accident in Carroll County
SYKESVILLE, MD. (DG)-A Carroll County Sheriff’s Deputy was flown to Shock Trauma Friday after a three car accident.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash at the intersection of Piney Ridge Parkway and Route 32 Friday at around 8:40 PM.
Investigators say Master Deputy Barget was driving a marked police cruiser east on Piney Ridge Parkway, preparing to turn left onto Route 32. A teenage girl driving a Chevy Silverado, with an adult male passenger and a juvenile male passenger, were traveling west on Piney Ridge Parkway continuing straight across the intersection. A Honda Accord, driven by Elisha Rivera, was traveling south on Route 32 and ran a red light striking the Chevy. That caused the Chevy to hit the police cruiser.
The juvenile passenger was taken to the hospital as a precaution. Master Deputy Barget was flown to Shock Trauma with non life-threatening injuries.
Police say there were no signs of impairment on any driver. The investigation continues and charges are pending.
