Hit & Run Driver Arrested

A pedestrian and dog were hit


FREDERICK, MD. (DG)-Police arrested a woman for a hit and run accident on Halloween night in Frederick.

Frederick Police responded to the 100 block of Stonegate Drive around 7:20 PM for an accident. Arriving officers found a pedestrian and a dog had been hit by a vehicle. Several parked cars had also been struck.

Witnesses told police the woman driving the vehicle fled on foot. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital and the dog was transported to an emergency veterinarian for treatment.

With the help of citizens at the accident scene, officers were able to find the driver. Officers say they found Yvonne Rivadeneyra trying to escape police custody by breaking into her house.

Rivadeneyra has been charged with DUI, DWI, reckless driving, negligent driving, resisting arrest, second degree assault, and fleeing the scene of an accident.
