Long delays expected on I-70 eastbound beginning Friday
The State Highway Administration has major roadwork planned for this weekend and will be closing lanes of travel on eastbound I-70 between Route 27 (Ridge Road) and Route 94 (Woodbine Road).
Beginning Friday at 9 AM, November 11th, road crews will close the far right lane on eastbound I-70. At 9 PM, both right lanes will be closed for the rest of the weekend.
Dave Buck, SHA spokesman, said the two lanes will remain closed until 5 AM on Monday, November 14th, or until the concrete has cured.
“Crews will remove several large sections of deteriorating pavement, clean the entire area of loose concrete, then pour new concrete and wait for the concrete to cure.” Buck said.
Significant delays are expected, especially during the daylight hours on Saturday and Sunday.
The best alternates routes are Route 27 (Ridge Road) to Route 144 (Old National Pike) or Route 27 to Route 26 (Liberty Road).
