The driver and his passenger were trapped in an over-turned vehicle
HAGERSTOWN, MD. (DG)- A single-car accident claimed the life of a 69-year-old man Tuesday in Washington County.
Maryland State Police responded to the crash on Interstate 70 near the 14-mile marker around 6:30 PM and closed the westbound lanes for about 45 minutes.
Police say when they arrived at the accident scene, they found a Subaru Forester overturned in the median. They determined that the vehicle went down an embankment, struck a tree and overturned.
The driver, Ronald Devore, and his wife, Linda Devore, were trapped in the vehicle for some time before they were extricated.
Both were transported to Meritus Medical Center. Mr. Devore succumbed to his injuries and Mrs. Devore was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Police are continuing to investigate the accident.
