He was arrested Tuesday morning after a break-in.
Kearneysville, WV (KM) The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Charles Town man with three counts of attempted murder, eight counts of wanton endangerment, and one count each of burglary and a firearms offense. Devin M. Collins, 19, was arrested early Tuesday morning after he broke into a home in the Uvilla Estates.
Authorities say Collins fired numerous shots into the house before getting in, and he pursued three individuals as they retreated into a bedroom and locked the door.
The Sheriff’s Office says Collins managed to get into the room where a fight began. During the confrontation, he lost his weapon. Collins fled the home.
He was arrested a short time later by a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy with the assistance of a Shepardstown Police Officer.
He was questioned and then taken to the Eastern Regional Jail.
Deputies say a search around the exterior of the home found that Collins left a saw-off shotgun and a large amount of ammunition outside the house.
