HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) – A California man faces the possibility of 45 years in prison after pleading guilty to firing a gun inside a western Maryland hotel room. Two of the bullets entered occupied rooms across the hall.

The Herald-Mail http://bit.ly/2fmYROIof Hagerstown reported Tuesday that 56-year-old Edward Schneider of Los Molinos, California, pleaded guilty to one count each of first-degree assault and use of a firearm in a crime of violence. Prosecutors agreed to drop 15 other counts, including methamphetamine possession.
Police arrested Schneider in March at a Hagerstown Hampton Inn after the shots were reported. Investigators say he fired four rounds. Two bullets tore through nearby rooms, missing the occupants and exiting through outside walls.

Police say they found Schneider in his room, hiding behind a bed with a loaded handgun.
