Four Frederick County Organizations Receive ‘Heart Of The Civil War’ Mini-Grants

The total amount doled out is $10,000.

 

Baltimore, Md. (KM)  The Heart of the Civil War Heritage Area has awarded mini-grants totaling $10,000 to nine organizations, including four in Frederick County.

The Francis Scott Key Foundation received $1500 to place an interpretative wayside panel at Mount Olivet Cemetery regarding Barbara Fritchie.

The Historical Society of Frederick County received $1,280 for “Hands on History” program cards for children.

The Tourism Council of Frederick County was given $1500 for “Maryland’s Heart of the Civil War” D-V-D’s and programs.

The Weinberg Center was awarded $500 for a rack card promoting its 90th anniversary.

Other organizations receiving “Heart of the Civil War” Mini-Grants include:

* C&O Canal Trust which is receiving $928 for a brochure to encourage visits to the historic Canal Town and C&O Canal National Historic Park.

* City of Hagerstown, which is getting $500 for a brochure on Hagerstown’s role in World War I.

* CIty of Westminster, which is the recipient of $1,425 for a brochure highlighting Carroll County’s railroad history.

* Community Fund of Carroll County–Corbit’s Charge Anniversary Committee: $1,267 for Corbit’s Charge commemorations.
