Arrest Made In Pa. Of Suspect In Hagerstown Bank Robbery

He’s also suspected of a bank hold up in Westminster.

 


Hagerstown, Md (KM)  Hagerstown Police have identified a suspect in the December 2nd armed robbery of Bulldog Federal Credit Union. Authorities say Edwin Charles Hoerner, 53, is charged with armed robbery, robbery, 1st- and 2nd-degree assault, reckless endangerment, theft over $1,000 and being a felon in possession of a handgun.

Hagerstown Police Detectives say they heard about a similar robbery in Westminster, and began working closely with police in that city. They developed Hoerner as a suspect.

Working with the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force, Pennsylvania State Police and the Pennsylvania State Police Special Emergency Response team, Hoerner was arrested on December 14th at his home in Shiremanstown, Pennsylvania. He’s awaiting extradition to Maryland.

Hagerstown Police say on Friday, December 2nd,  a suspect entered the Bulldog Federal Credit Union at 17990 Garland Groh Boulevard armed with a gun and demanded money. During the course of the robbery, he fired off one shot. No one was injured.

The suspect fled in a silver colored Nissan Sentra.
