Traffic Stop Results in Driver and Passenger Being Arrested

Drugs were hidden in the passenger’s groin area.


FREDERICK, MD. (DG)-A Frederick City Police officer was on patrol Tuesday night around 10 PM in the area of the 1100 block of W. Patrick St. He saw green Cadillac with several large items hanging from the rearview mirror. This is a visual obstruction under Maryland motor vehicle laws.

The officer made contact with the driver, Charles Shelton. While speaking with Shelton, he noticed the odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Shelton was removed from the vehicle and searched and police did not find drugs on him.

Another officer made contact with the passenger, Dennis Slaughter, and detected burnt marijuana coming from the passenger area. Slaughter was removed from the vehicle.

Slaughter admitted to having marijuana hidden in his groin area. Police say the marijuana was 14 g.

Slaughter was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.By:  Dianah Gibson
